CHICAGO — A man was stabbed during a robbery in Lakeview early Tuesday, police said.

At 12:01 a.m., two men ages 21 and 37 were parking a car in the 2800 block of North Halsted Street, police said. As the older man got out of the car, two cars pulled up and several people got out. One of them pulled out a gun and began to rob the men, police said.

The 37-year-old put his hands in the air and one of the robbers pulled the 21-year-old out of the car and began to stab him and beat him, police said. Another robber grabbed items from the older man and then the robbers got into their cars and drove off, police said.

The younger man was stabbed multiple times in his chest and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, police said. He also suffered a black eye. The older man was uninjured.

The younger man is a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody.
