DUNNING — Ald. Nicholas Sposato will host an educational workshop Wednesday for any residents interested in appealing the rates on their property tax bills.

Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Mike Cabonargi will be on hand to "explain how to appeal and potentially get a reduction on property taxes" for anyone who owns a parcel on the Northwest Side, according to an announcement.

Sposato organizes the tax seminar twice a year, saying the appeal process is "often misunderstood."

Homeowners in Jefferson Township, which includes most of the Far Northwest Side, will be able to file an appeal of their property taxes starting next week, officials said. The appeals process typically remains open for about a month.

Wednesday's meeting starts at 6 p.m. at St. Priscilla's-McGowan Hall, 6949 W. Addison St.
