BUCKTOWN — Dixie and 1952 1/2 Liquorette — an upscale Southern eatery and adjacent cocktail lounge that opened over the summer — have started a "Bourbon and ‘Boys" weekly special.

Chef Charlie McKenna says that every Tuesday, patrons can enjoy "a unique take on a po’boy and a different bourbon-based cocktail" for $15.

The "Bourbon and 'Boys" combo will be offered from 5-10 p.m. in Dixie's dining room and from 5 p.m.-12 a.m. Tuesdays in the adjacent 1952 1/2 Liquorette 20-seat cocktail bar.

This Tuesday, McKenna has created a fried oyster po'boy with crispy oysters, spicy collard kimchi, bacon and cucumber. Tonight's bourbon-based cocktail, "Enter Through The Side,” features gentian kina, Americano, and fig bitters, a spokeswoman said.

Just south of the Damen and Armitage avenues intersection at 1952 N. Damen Ave., the 64-seat Dixie is housed in an 1880s-era cottage that previously was home to Takashi, a Japanese restaurant that closed in 2014.
