CHICAGO — Robbers pretending to be women are using social media to lure victims in Austin, police said.

During two robberies, the men pretended to be a woman and met their victim over social media, according to a Chicago Police community alert. Their victim would agree to meet the fake woman in the 900 block of North Parkside, but once the victims got there the male thieves robbed them at gunpoint.

One robbery occurred on November 28 at 9:30 a.m., and another this past Saturday at 5 a.m.

The men were described as being black and 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, police said. One had dreadlocks.

Anyone with information about the robberies was asked to call police at 312-744-8263.
