CHICAGO — Police are warning residents and business owners about a series of nighttime and early morning armed robberies at grocery and drug stores on the North Side since Thanksgiving.

Roscoe Village, Lakeview and Edgewater all saw robberies at local businesses, and police said they are looking for a man described as Hispanic between the ages of 25-45 years old, between 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 inches tall and weighing 180-230 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes and was wearing a tan Carhartt-style jacket, with a black hooded sweatshirt and cargo pants, according to police.

In the incidents, the cashier was approached by the man who displayed a gun and demanded money from the register.

On Sunday Nov. 27, a store in the 3200 block of North Broadway in Lakeview was hit by the robber around 1:28 a.m., followed by another incident in the 3400 block of North Western Avenue in Roscoe Village at about 1:50 a.m.

A day earlier on Nov. 26, the man robbed an Edgewater business or businesses on the same 6100 North Broadway block twice — first at 4:19 a.m. and again later at 7:40 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 312-747-8263.
