OLD TOWN — Santa Claus is coming to Old Town.

The Old Town Merchants & Residents Association holds its annual tree lighting at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Burton Place Park, 1501 N. Wells St.

The Franklin Fine Arts Center children's choir will perform holiday songs and carols, and hot cocoa and other sweet treats will be dispensed.

Santa Claus is expected to put in an appearance, and he'll accept wish lists from children whether naughty or nice. Aldermen Brian Hopkins (2nd) and Walter Burnett Jr. (27th) are expected as well, although they may be less receptive to wish lists depending on whom they come from.

Old Town Gardens, 1555 N. Wells St., is designing and installing the decorations for Wells Street and Burton Place, and the association is urging shop owners to decorate their stores for the holiday season.
