LINCOLN PARK — La Colombe, the self-proclaimed "ethical" coffee chain, has opened its fourth Chicago outlet in Lincoln Park.

La Colombe opened a 1,400-square-foot coffee shop Friday at 858 W. Armitage Ave. It offers the company's menu of traditional and innovative coffee drinks, including Draft Latte and Pure Black, available on tap and in cans.

"Chicago is one of the great American cities. We just love it here,” JP Iberti, president and co-founder of La Colombe, said in a statement issued from the company's home base in Philadelphia.

“Since first coming to Chicago, we’ve admired the Lincoln Park area. It reminds me of Rittenhouse, the neighborhood where we opened our first cafe in Philadelphia. With vibrant restaurants and retail around the park, Armitage Avenue is the perfect place for our fourth cafe."

La Colombe boasts that it's "known for ethical, long-term trade practices with growers." It has also specialized in draft and canned ready-to-go coffee, such as the Draft Latte, served cold.

It replaces a UPS Store as part of a burgeoning upscale food renaissance in the area, as it will soon be joined by Foxtrot, a self-described "elevated corner store" opening across the street at 900 W. Armitage Ave.
