DOWNTOWN — The city could get a "coating" of snow on Wednesday.

Snow flurries could start as early as 4 p.m., said AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Kines, but they probably won't hit until later in the evening. They're expected to last until early Thursday.

The flurries shouldn't amount to much, Kines said, though they might create a "coating" of snow in some areas. There's a chance the flurries could just turn into rain, Kines said.

"Whatever falls is going to be light, and it's probably going to be spotty," Kines said.

You'll also have to deal with Wednesday temperatures that top out in the mid-40s before falling to around 32 degrees at night, Kines said.

And if you're groaning over a bit of snow, remember this: It's usually snowed enough to stick by Nov. 16 in Chicago, Kines said, and last year the city got 11.2 inches of snow Nov. 20-21.

Of course, Chicago's gone as late as Dec. 20 before seeing snow accumulate (in 2012), and Kines said he doesn't expect to see any heavy snow before the end of the week.
