CHICAGO — A swastika was spray-painted on a door of an Austin neighborhood elementary school, ABC7 reported Tuesday.
The swastika was found at John Hay Elementary School, 1018 N. Laramie St., ABC7 reported. It was removed in the morning, Chicago Public Schools said in an emailed statement, and a report was filed with Chicago Police.
"Chicago Public Schools has no tolerance for this type of despicable act, as we are committed to promoting school environments that are welcoming and supportive of all cultures and beliefs," CPS said. "We are grateful for the City's effort to remove this hateful message from our school."
The school referred questions to CPS.
