Erik Peoples, 30, Killed In Garfield Park shooting

CHICAGO — Erik Peoples, 30, was killed and a 31-year-old man was wounded in East Garfield Park on Sunday, officials said.

At 2:38 a.m., the two men were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 3400 block of West Harrison Street when a silver car parked in front of them and two men wearing hoodies got out of the car and fired shots, police said.

The 30-year-old man was hit in his head and body, police said.

Peoples, of the 5900 block of North Sheridan, was pronounced dead at 2:53 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The 31-year-old was hit in his right arm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, police said.

No one was in custody.
