HYDE PARK — There’s no reason to be alone on Thanksgiving — unless you really want to — with a lot of social options available across the neighborhood on Thursday.

From Hyde Park up to Bronzeville, there are a host of free and social dinner events planned for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday.

Augustana Lutheran Church, 5500 S. Woodlawn Ave., is again holding its annual potluck lunch from 12:30-3 p.m.

There is no fee, but it’s asked that everyone bring a dish to share, with Hyde Park Produce providing the turkey and ham. The church is asking people who would like to attend to call 773-493-6491, so it can assure there is turkey for everyone.

The 4th annual potluck is preceded by an interfaith Thanksgiving service at 11 a.m. at Rockefeller Chapel, 5850 S. Woodlawn Ave., a tradition for over 90 years in the neighborhood.

St. Elizabeth’s Parish, 50 E. 41st St., will also be hosting a Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nearby St. Paul Church, 4644 S. Dearborn St., will also be hosting a Thanksgiving day lunch from noon to 3 p.m.
