CHICAGO — Moonfish will keep its pop-up store open in Edgebrook through Sunday, extending the traveling fashion retailer's stay in the pocket of the city where it was founded nearly a year ago.
Shoppers will be able to pick up a wide range of potential holiday gifts, ranging from dresses to winter garb to craft jewelry to moisturizing lotions, according to Sarah Kotek, who launched Moonfish from her Sauganash home in 2015.
"We'll have a ton of seasonal accessories and apparel, some really cute hats and scarves coming in a lot of different colors," Kotek said. "They're just good grab-bag gifts, in the $10-$40 range, good for secret santas and things like that."
Unlike during previous pop-up sales, when Moonfish teamed up with existing stores for a few days at a time, the retailer will set up an independent shop in a vacant space at 6324 N. Central Ave.
After debuting events in Avondale and Lakeview, Kotek said she was glad to bring her business back to Edgebrook, where she lived for "many years" with her family before moving to Sauganash.
"We're really excited about it from a business perspective, because downtown Edgebrook really feels like a small business haven right now, and we're excited to be a part of that," Kotek said. "And personally, it still feels like my own little nook in Chicago."
Kotek will hold a toy drive as part of the operation, she added. Anyone who brings a "new or gently-used toy" will be entered for a chance to win a $50 Moonfish gift card.
Customers were previously asked to make appointments, but Moonfish will be open to walk-ins for the remainder of its stay.
The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
