DOWNTOWN — Bruce Springsteen will appear at a Downtown book store Monday in connection with his new best-selling autobiography.
Tickets to the event, which cost $35 and included a pre-signed copy of his book "Born to Run," were sold out within minutes, according to brucespringsteenbam.eventbrite.com.
The signing will be at the Books A Million store at 144 S. Clark St. from noon-2 p.m.
"We will collect any gifts or letters for Bruce as you enter the space," the bookstore's Facebook page said. "You will only be able to hold your camera or phone in the meet-and-greet area."
No book reading or performance will be part of the event. The 67-year-old Springsteen will not sign any products or merchandise at the event, the post said
Similar signings in other cities have drawn throngs of fans, including in Los Angeles in October.
"When Springsteen walked into the Barnes & Noble just after 10:30 a.m. ... an hour and a half before the scheduled noon start time, the crowd of 1,100 lined up on all three stories of the store chanted “Bruuuuce” and yelled as if he was about to deliver another four-hour performance," according to a report in Billboard.
For those who miss out on Chicago, here's the rest of the current book signing tour:
Tuesday — Cincinnati
Wednesday —Denver
Dec. 1 — Austin, Texas
Dec. 2 — Kennesaw, Georgia
