CHICAGO — A team of chefs are cooking up a free Thanksgiving meal for West Side residents this weekend.

Chef Bill Kim of of bellyQ and 10 other chefs will cook the meal for West Side residents who are facing poverty and homelessness, according to the Inspiration Corporation, which is hosting the event. This is the first time the event, dubbed Chefsgiving, has been held.

“The idea for Chefsgiving sprang from wanting to directly connect with the communities that these types of culinary events seek to give back to but rarely include and involve," Kim said, according to Inspiration Kitchens. "By gathering together at the table, I know we can gain a better understanding of how we can best support our neighborhoods in need.”

The event is Saturday at Inspiration Kitchens, 3504 W. Lake St. You can pay online to sponsor the meal for a person in need.
