CHICAGO — A 58-year-old North Lawndale business owner was seriously wounded after being shot during a robbery attempt Sunday night, according to police.

The man was leaving his business at 9:30 p.m. in the 3900 block of West Cermak Road when two men walked up to him and demanded his money, police said.

A scuffle ensued and one of the men shot the business owner, police said. The victim was struck multiple times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.

Police are not sure if the robbers got away with any of the man's belongings.

No arrests have been made.
