CHICAGO—The man who was beaten during a traffic stop on the West Side Wednesday, the brutal event caught on film, has publicly made a statement regarding the attack.

"Twenty people on both sides of the bus stop, plus all the cars, but no one did anything to help," David Wilcox, the man who was attacked, told reporters Friday.

In the 32-second video posted online, two men, possibly teens, are seen punching and kicking Wilcox in the street.

As the two men attacked Wilcox, one witness yelled: "You voted Trump?" and "Beat his a--." Another witness said, "Don't vote Trump" and "Steal his stuff."

"I wasn't expecting that and the next thing I knew there were three men coming from, I believe, the backseat and I was getting hit from all sides," Wilcox said. "He was swerving, trying to get me off, and I knew if I let go then I was dead."

Wilcox told reporters that he did vote for Donald Trump.

"I did not have a Trump sign on my car. I heard that that was reported, that was untrue. Didn't have a bumper sticker, didn't have a sign or nothing," Wilcox said.

Wilcox also had words for the men who beat him.

"I hope they get caught. I am going to be at every court date," Wilcox said.

Chicago activists condemned the brutal attack.

"How can we defeat the hatred and racism organized against us if we lower our standards to act the same way?" said anti-violence activist Jedidiah Brown. "I am not for this display of intolerance and ignorance from either side, it's time to grow up and build. We have seen enough destruction..."

No arrests have been made in the attack, police said.
