1 Killed, 2 Others Wounded In North Lawndale Shootings

CHICAGO — A shooting in North Lawndale killed one man and wounded two others on Thursday, police said.

At 4:15 p.m., the men were standing on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of South Homan Avenue when someone got out of a light-colored car and fired shots at them, police said.

One of the men, 22, was shot in his chest and arm and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said. The man, Javoun Burnes, of the 1900 block of West Ogden Avenue, was pronounced dead at 6 p.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.

An 18-year-old man was hit in his leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said, and a 20-year-old man was hit in his buttocks and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable."

The shooter got into the car and drove away, police said.
