Inside Wicker Park's New Hotel Restaurant, Cafe Robey, Opening Next Week

WICKER PARK —  The much-anticipated boutique hotel The Robey is expected to open its first restaurant next week, Eater reported Wednesday.

French-American bistro Cafe Robey will open on Nov. 16 or 17, followed by more onsite restaurants and bars, including a "Cabana Club" lounge above the neighboring Hollander, Eater first reported

Located at the intersection of Milwaukee, Damen and North avenues in Wicker Park, the massive hospitality, retail and dining complex is anchored by the 12-story Northwest Tower, home to The Robey hotel at 2018 W. North Ave. Next door, The Hollander hotel occupies a rehabbed warehouse, at 2022 W. North Ave.

Chef Bradley Stellings will run the 55-seat Cafe Robey, which will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as weekend brunch, according to The Robey's website.

On a tour with Stellings and food and beverage director Sergio Campos, Eater revealed menu specifics (steak frites, duck confit, house-made pastas, a raw bar, and more, prepared in open kitchen and to drink, alcohol and Chicago-based Metric Coffee).

A second floor lounge above Cafe Robey, also open to the public, will offer plenty of seating on comfy chairs and couches as well as a view of the street below. Patrons can enjoy free WiFi and a bar where espresso and drinks can be ordered, the website says.

The Robey also boasts a rooftop cocktail lounge called the "Up & Up," set to open this spring. It will be for hotel guests only from 5 to 6 p.m. but open later to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, a hotel spokeswoman said.

Next door, The Hollander will have a coffee and grab-and-go counter as well as an onsite bike repair shop. The bike shop will sit on one side in the rear and the coffee bar on the other, with casual table and couch seating in front, Eater reported.

The Robey's 69 rooms will either have a single bed, queen or king-sized. Rates will start at $175 per night. Perks and amenities include pet-friendly rooms, soft denim robes and felt slippers, free WiFi and access to the pool and rooftop.

Another 20 rooms will be on the upper floors of the five-story Hollander Fireproof Warehouse, adjacent to the tower. Those rooms will offer both queen-sized and twin beds for families and small groups.

"Social Stays" in The Hollander's eight shared rooms will start at $45 per night and the 12 private rooms start at $165, according to a "Fact Sheet."

The hospitality complex, which also features a small pool for guests on the sixth floor western rooftop of The Robey, is a project from Grupo Habita, which operates 14 hotels in Mexico as well as the Hotel Americano in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood. Hotel Americano opened in 2011.

Room reservations begin on Nov. 30.
