Larry Matthews, 25, Dies 5 Days After Being Shot On West Side: Authorities

CHICAGO — A 25-year-old man died five days after being shot in East Garfield Park, according to authorities.

At 10:25 a.m. on Friday, Larry Matthews was found in the 3400 block of West Lexington Street, authorities said.

He had been shot in his head and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said. Matthews died from his injuries at 8:22 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. 

Matthews lived in the 1400 block of South Sawyer Avenue, the medical examiner's office said.
