UPTOWN — The Japanese American Service Committee will celebrate the holiday season with a children's festival and craft bazaar next week.

From 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 12, the committee will host Kodomo Matsuri at the Japanese American Service Committee center, 4427 N. Clark St.

Kodomo is the Japanese word for children and Matsuri is a traditional Japanese festival.

Festivities include unique holiday shopping, legacy treasures, a "kraft korner" for all ages, silent auction and Japanese food and refreshments.

The event will also feature Tsukasa Taiko drumming, Santa Claus, raffle drawings and Shubu-Kai, which is Japanese classical dancing.

The Japanese American Service Committee was organized in 1947 to resettle Japanese immigrants in Chicago. Its mission is to help people of all ages experience Japanese American history and culture, according to its website.
