UPTOWN — This year's Pride Films and Plays' annual fall benefit concert will feature performances from "American Idol"'s Rayvon Owen and Capathia Jenkins, of NBC's production of "The Wiz."

On Monday, Simply Sensational "will celebrate the greatest songs written for women in the Broadway canon, performed by the best women — and men — in Chicago’s musical theater scene" at Uptown Underground, 4707 N. Broadway, according to a news release for the event.

Other performers include: Nancy Hays, Honey West, Kevin Webb and Michelle McKenzie Voigt.

The pre-show reception begins at 6 p.m. and features entertainment from the Jeff Award winning Robert Ollis, the evening's musical director. The regular program begins at 7:15 p.m. with performances from Owen and headliner Jenkins, the release said.

Aside from "The Wiz," Jenkins has appeared on Broadway in "Newsies," "Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me," "The Look of Love" and "The Civil War." She has also appeared in "30 Rock," "The Sopranos" and "Law and Order," the release said.

In 2014, Owen released his debut album "Cycles" before becoming a household name as a Top 4 finalist on Season 14 of "American Idol." While on the show, he performed with Jamie Foxx, Ricky Martin and Boy George.

The event benefits programming for Pride Films and Plays, which focuses on changing lives through the diverse new work with LGBTQ characters or themes, the release said.

Tickets for the event can be bought here.
