CHICAGO — Mother Nature might rain on the Cubs fans' parade should the North Siders win their first World Series in over 100 years Wednesday night.
Rain showers and thunderstorms moved into the area by mid-morning and will likely stay around through the evening, said Ben Deubelbeiss, meteorologist for the National Weather Service. The Cubs will play the Indians in Cleveland with a 7 p.m. start time.
But the chance for rain begins to lessen through the night. The storms could subside by 10 p.m. or so, which is about the time Cubs fans stormed Clark and Addison after a thrilling Game 6 win Tuesday.
So fans should hope for a Cubs win (obviously), a long game and a break of good luck if they want to celebrate in the Wrigleyville streets Wednesday, Deubelbeiss said.
"We'll be drying out at that hour," Deubelbeiss said of the 11 p.m. hour Wednesday. "The best chance for storms [then] will be south of the city, but we could see something up by Wrigleyville. I wouldn't be overly concerned about it."
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Northeastern Illinois but excludes Cook County, according to the National Weather Service.
Despite the storms, Wednesday's forecasted high temperature is 67 degrees. It will remain in the mid 50s during the game, Deubelbeiss said.
And what if the city needs to schedule a victory parade in the next coming days? Well, Thursday and Friday are looking fantastic, according to Deubelbeiss.
"Thursday and Friday will see plenty of sunshine," he said, with expected highs in the 60s. "We're still well above normal."
