DUNNING — The New Horizon Center for the Developmentally Disabled, 6737 W. Forest Preserve Ave., is inviting community members to the grand unveiling of a new play area attached to its campus, according to an announcement.

The "recreational green space" has been in the works since December 2014, when administrators acquired the 1.25-acre plot of land in the hopes of giving their students more room to bike and play.

The new park will include an artificial turf field, a covered pavilion and fixed musical instruments like drums and xylophones, according to New Horizons accountant Christina Curtis.

State Rep. Michael McAuliffe (R-Norwood Park), State Sen. John Mulroe (D-Edgebrook), former Ald. Tim Cullerton (38th) and Ald. Ed Burke (14th) will all participate in the ribbon-cutting, set to begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
