CHICAGO — Gilbert Wainwright III, 31, was shot to death in Humboldt Park early Sunday, officials said.
Officers responding to calls of shots fired found the man at 12:45 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Hirsch Street, police said.
He had been shot in his face and was taken to Norwegian Hospital, police said.
Wainwright, of suburban Downers Grove, was pronounced dead at 12:52 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
