CHICAGO — Hernando Caster, 38, was shot and killed in Austin on Friday night, police said.
At 9 p.m., the man was walking on the sidewalk in the 4900 block of West Huron Street when two men walked up to him and fired shots, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The man was hit in his back and legs and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Pacheco said.
Caster, of the 5300 block of West Washington, was pronounced dead at 10:58 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
No one was in custody.
