CHICAGO — A 41-year-old man was killed in a shooting in East Garfield Park Friday evening, according to police.

The man was found unresponsive by officers at 6:40 p.m. in the 3500 block of West Polk Street, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced on the scene, according to Lemmon and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The medical examiner has identified the man as Deandre Walton, of the 0-100 block of North Latrobe Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 6:56 p.m., the medical examiner said.

Walton was a documented gang member, said a police source.
