CHICAGO — Five juveniles have been charged with stealing a woman's van, police said.
At 1:40 p.m. Sunday, the van was reported stolen from the 5900 block of West Madison Street, Chicago Police said. Later, officers on patrol saw the five juveniles in the van going down an alley near North Lamon Avenue and West Maypole Avenue, police said.
The officers stopped the van and checked its license plate and realized it was the van that had been reported stolen, police said. The five people in the van tried to run away but police arrested them.
One boy has been charged with possessing a stolen car and one boy and three girls were charged with criminal trespass to a car, police said.
