LAKEVIEW — Vaughan's Pub may be in Cubs territory, but the Lakeview bar will be an oasis for Cleveland Indians fans through the World Series.

The pub, located at 2917 N. Sheffield Ave., caters to Ohio sports fans despite being located in the shadow of Wrigley Field. The bar is stocked with draft beer from Cleveland-based Great Lakes Brewery, along with being decked out with Ohio sports paraphernalia.

"We have loyal, Cleveland sports fans who've been coming here all year. There's no need to change anything now," said bartender/manager-on-duty Sarah Meyer. "Our fans have been here and they know how to get around. We don't change anything for the games."

Cleveland sports fans are still on a championship high since the Cavaliers came from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals earlier this year. But this year is a different experience, Meyer said.

"What happened with the Cavs was huge but for the World Series they are more exited," Meyer said.

A lot of Vaughan's customers live in Chicago "but they love having a place to bond, talk about Cleveland sports, and root for their teams together," she said.

Meyer said Cubs fans seem to forget that the Indians have a World Series drought, too: Though they have captured the American League pennant six times in franchise history (1997 most recent), the Indians have not won a World Series since 1948. "It's been a long time in Cleveland too," Meyer said.

The bar is somewhat of a curiosity for followers of the North Side team.

"Sometimes, Cubs fans will ask, 'What's the deal the Cleveland stuff. You're in Lakeview. You're supposed to root for the Cubs,' " she said.

Meyer has a word of advice for Indians and Cubs fans who want to watch the game at Vaughn's Pub.

"Get here early. It's going to be busy," Meyer said. "Plan to stay because we're going to have a great time."
