CHICAGO — A man knocked over and sexually assaulted a woman in a parking garage near the Cumberland Blue Line station early Monday morning, police said.

Around 4 a.m., the woman, 37, was walking through the garage in the 8400 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue when a man walked up from behind and "knocked her to the ground," according to a police alert.

The man demanded that the woman "remove her clothing," police said. After a physical struggle, the woman was able to run away.

The man fled southbound from the garage, police said.

Police described the suspect as a black man in his mid-20s, standing between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing around 140 pounds. He has a light complexion with brown eyes and black hair, and at the time of the incident he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
