CHICAGO — Perspectives Charter School's football team is in the Illinois High School Association playoffs for the second time, and the program Monday night started a crowd-funding campaign to pay for travel expenses to its first-round opponent.

In less than 24 hours, they exceeded their $3,000 goal, raising $4,120 as of early Tuesday afternoon.

Perspectives faces Danville in the first round of the playoffs. The trip is about 147 miles each way from the school's Auburn Gresham campus.

The $3,000 GoFundMe fundraiser was started by Tiray Jackson, the school's director of athletics.

"This is the toughest budget year we have had in quite sometime. Thus, we need to think outside the box to make our trip to Danville work,” Jackson said.

The fundraiser amount goal was increased to $4,000 after it exceeded the $3,000 mark.
