Man Shot By Officer During Robbery Charged, Police Say

CHICAGO — A man who was shot by police during an alleged attempted robbery on Sunday has been charged, police said.

At 5:52 p.m. Sunday, Sherrod Suttle, 27, tried to rob a gas station in the 1000 block of North Cicero Avenue, police said. Officers who got to the scene saw the robbery, confronted Suttle, and at least one officer shot him.

Suttle was hit in his leg and taken to an area hospital, police said. A gun was found at the scene, and no officers were injured.

Suttle, of the 4100 block of West Kamerling Avenue, has been charged with two counts of attempted robbery with a gun, two counts of aggravated assault of an officer with a weapon, one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, two counts of resisting or obstructive and officer and one count of battery, police said.

Suttle will appear in court on Thursday, police said.
