CHICAGO — A man and a woman were shot in separate Austin attacks Wednesday morning, according to police.

At 8:30 a.m., a 31-year-old man was shot in the 5800 block of West West End Avenue, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was shot multiple times in his torso and got to West Suburban Hospital before being transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Lemmon said.

He is a documented gang member and a convicted felon, according to a police source.

At 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, a woman was shot in the 700 block of North Laramie Avenue, Lemmon said.

The woman was struck in her right side and managed to get herself to Roseland Community Hospital in good condition, she said.

No arrests have been made in either case.
