UPTOWN — Various businesses and community members were recognized for their work in the 46th Ward at the ward's annual award celebration.
Last Thursday, the fourth annual 46th Ward Awards, which is sponsored by Citizens for Cappleman, was held at the Lawrence House, 1020 W. Lawrence Ave.
The winners included:
• Best Restaurant, Bar or Cafe: Everybody's Coffee, 935 W. Wilson Ave.
• Best Garden or Greenspace: Buena Circle Park, 1049 W. Buena Ave.
• Best Storefront Display: Baker and Nosh, 1303 W. Wilson Ave.
• Best New Business: First Ascent Climbing and Fitness, 4718 N. Broadway
• Best Non-profit: Lakeview Pantry, 3945 N. Sheridan Road
• Jay Michael's Ward Innovator Award: Nicole Velasquez, owner of The Shift, 4101 N. Broadway.
