DOWNTOWN — "Chicago Fire" crews spent the first part of this week filming a scene that involves a bad crash with a bicyclist near Michigan Avenue. And then it happened for real.

At about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man on a delivery bike, apparently delivering sandwiches for a local deli chain, was hit at Michigan and Lake. He was hurt and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The NBC show was filming on Lake Street — and cast and crew stopped to watch the real firefighters and paramedics do their job.

The injured cyclist seen lying in the street. His mangled bike, which had a Jason's Deli bag attached, was on the ground nearby.

A manager at the Jason's Deli at 195 N. Dearborn St., the closest location to where the incident took place, said she was unaware of what happened.

A woman was killed in June of 2015 when she was hit by a CTA bus while she was waiting on a street corner in the intersection.
