CHICAGO — An East Garfield Park man is under investigation after his 4-month-old daughter died late Sunday, authorities said.
Around 9 20 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a call of a baby girl not breathing in the 2200 block of West Wilcox Street and found the 4-month-old, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Trainor said.
The girl's father is being investigated for allegations of neglect, a Department of Child and Family Services spokeswoman said. The agency has not had prior contact with the family, she said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the death but has not ruled on the cause or manner.
