Trasean Stokes, 26, Killed In West Ridge Shooting, Officials Say

CHICAGO — Trasean Stokes, 26, was shot to death in West Ridge on Friday night, police said.

At 8:55 p.m., Stokes was outside in the 6000 block of North Talman Avenue when a man walked up, shot him and ran away, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Stokes was hit multiple times throughout his chest and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in serious condition, Lemmon said.

Stokes, of the 6000 block of North Fairfield, was pronounced dead at 9:35 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody.
