CHICAGO — A shooting in Garfield Park left Faizon Smith, 18, dead Friday night, police said.
At 6:50 p.m., Smith was in a gangway in the 4500 block of West Maypole Avenue when someone fired shots and then drove away in a dark sedan, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
Smith was hit in his chest and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Lemmon said.
Smith, of the 4500 block of West Washington Boulevard, was pronounced dead at 7:26 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
He was a documented gang member, police said.
No one was in custody.
