CHICAGO — A shooting in Austin left two men dead on Friday night, police said.
At 7:55 p.m., the men were standing by a parked car in the 5500 block of West Congress Parkway when someone in a gray sedan fired shots at them, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
An 18-year-old man was hit in his head and a 20-year-old man was hit multiple times, Lemmon said. They were taken to Stroger Hospital and were pronounced dead.
The 18-year-old has been identified as Jamal Thomas, who lived in the same block where he was shot, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The 20-year-old man was Jermale Richardson, of the 1100 block of South Albany, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Richardson died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide, according to the office's records.
No one was in custody.
