CHICAGO — In the time-honored tradition of Chicago's fall weather, the next few days will make deciding what to wear very difficult.

Things will quickly swing from chilly to hot: Thursday night will hit the mid-30s — chilly enough that neighborhoods away from the lake and the suburbs could get a "touch of frost," said AccuWeather meteorologist Paul Walker. The normal nighttime low for Chicago this time of year is in the mid-40s, Walker said.

But come Friday, Chicago will have a "lot of sunshine" and top out at 64 degrees, Walker said. Saturday and Sunday will be even warmer, hitting 72 and 74 degrees, respectively, Walker said. Sunday could see a bit of rain and is expected to be cloudy.

Even at night things won't get too chilly: Friday will drop to 52 degrees while Saturday's low will be 64 degrees, Walker said. That means the city will be so warm that'll it be as hot at night this weekend as it normally is during the day this time of year.

It'll be the last warm weekend for the near future, Walker said. The end of next week should see temperatures get "back closer to normal," Walker said, and next weekend is expected to be even colder than usual. The temperature swings are typical for this time of year.

"Fall, you've got the big changes, some warm days and some cold days in the fall," Walker said. It's the "season of change."
