CHICAGO — A 25-year-old man died and a 34-year-old man was wounded after a shooting in Back of the Yards early Sunday morning, authorities said.
At 3:58 a.m., the two men were standing in the 4800 block of South Bishop Street when someone shot at them from a passing car, police said.
The 25-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition after being shot in his armpit, police said. He was later pronounced dead.
He has been identified as Victor Sanjuanero, of the 4800 block of South Throop Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Police originally said he was 24.
The 32-year-old was shot in his right leg and buttocks and also brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was considered "stable," police said.
Police said both men are documented gang members.
No one was in custody, police said.
