WEST RIDGE — Have a question or concern police officers on the Far North Side should hear about? Want to pay a compliment to your favorite beat cop?
A new initiative from the Chicago Police Department is aiming to partner officers in the district with community members through one of the most time-tested methods of communication: conversations over a cup of coffee.
The "Coffee With Cops" program is meant to "break down barriers between police officers and the citizens of the district they serve by removing agendas and allowing opportunities to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know one another," police said.
On Friday, the events are happening across the city — including in West Ridge and Edgewater.
From 8:30-10:30 a.m., police from the Lincoln Police District will be at the McDonald's at Foster Avenue and Sheridan Road, and from 6-7 p.m. residents can meet with officers from the Rogers Park Police District at the Starbuck's inside the Peterson Target.
