CHICAGO — Jacory Jones, 20, was killed and a 57-year-old man was wounded while riding a CTA bus during an Austin attack Friday afternoon, police said.

At 12:35 p.m., Jones was standing in the street in the 1500 block of North LeClaire Avenue when two people walked up to him and began firing, police said. He was struck in his neck and leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

Jones, of the 1800 block of North Luna, was pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

Police said Jones was a documented gang member.

A bullet also went through a No. 72 North Avenue bus' windshield and hit the 57-year-old man in his back, said Irene Ferradaz, a CTA spokeswoman. No shots were fired on the bus, she said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

No further information was immediately available.
