CHICAGO — An 18-year-old man was wounded in a North Lawndale shooting Thursday afternoon, according to police.

The man was in the 1200 block of South Sawyer Avenue at 12:54 p.m. when two people came from an alley and opened fire, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was struck in his back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Sweeney said.

The shooting victim is a documented gang member, police said.
