MORGAN PARK — Two men in a pickup truck crashed into a currency exchange in Morgan Park around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to police on the scene.

At least two people were taken to the hospital after the accident at 11207 S. Vincennes Ave., though it did not appear as though anyone was seriously hurt, an officer on the scene said.

Judy Freeman, who works at the currency exchange, said two teenagers were in the store at the time of the accident. At least one of those teens was taken to the hospital, she said.

Freeman also said her car was hit as the truck entered the parking lot on the southeast corner of Vincennes and Monterey avenues from the south at considerable speed.

Several customers at nearby Monterey Hardware heard the crash. They said another window at the currency exchange was boarded up before the accident occurred as a result of a previous mishap.

A spokesman for the Chicago Police Department said the cause of the crash is still being investigated, though police on the scene said it didn't appear the truck crashed into the building intentionally.

As of 12:47 p.m., the department's news affairs office had not yet been made aware of any tickets being issued.
