BRIDGEPORT — Even police deep in the heart of White Sox country — the South Side — are cheering for the Chicago Cubs this year.

Take a walk by the Chicago Police Department’s Deering District headquarters at 3120 S. Halsted St., and you’ll spot this message on a digital marquee:

The message popped up after the Cubs clinched the National League Central title on Sept. 15, when St. Louis lost 6-2 at San Francisco. The night marked the first time the Cubs clinched the division since 2008.

“Regardless of where the team is located geographically in the city, we want to show our support,” said Deering District Police Cmdr. Daniel Godsel.

The White Sox recently congratulated the Cubs with a note running on the team's video billboard just off the Dan Ryan Expy. near U.S. Cellular Field. The congratulations includes the Cubs' logo and calls them "NL CENTRAL CHAMPS."
