COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Lakeview masseur is accused of raping a client during a massage and later apologizing to the woman via text message.

According to prosecutors, Takashi Takei was massaging a 41-year-old customer at East Meets West, 3166 N. Lincoln Ave., on Sep. 5 when he began touching the woman inappropriately.

Takei, 43, who owns East Meets West, soon climbed on top of the woman and sexually assaulted her, prosecutors allege.

The woman went home and immediately reported to the incident to police. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where a rape kit was collected.

Three weeks later, on Sep. 27, Takei texted the woman an apology and said he was going to jail, prosecutors allege. Takei turned himself in to police that evening and now faces charges of criminal sexual assault.

In a videotaped statement, Takei confessed to the attack.

Cook County Judge James Brown on Wednesday set bail at $75,000. Should Takei post bond, he'll be required to surrender his passport and wear an electronic-monitoring bracelet, court records show.
