CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man was shot to death in Englewood Thursday afternoon, police said.

The man was walking at 2:38 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 57th Street when someone in a passing car began firing, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was struck in his head and was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital, where he was pronounced, she said.

The man has been identified as Byron C. Walker of the 5700 block of South Aberdeen Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Walker is a documented gang member, police said.

No arrests have been made.
