CHICAGO — Excitement about fall might be short-lived for some — the cooler temps have brought cold and allergy season to Chicago.

Sickweather.com, which uses social media to track illnesses across the city, found that people in Chicago have been complaining about their allergies, colds and fevers over the last several days.

A sore throat and runny nose are typically the first symptoms of a cold, according to the Centers for Disease Control, but recovery should take just seven to 10 days. The CDC recommends you don't touch your face with unwashed hands and you wash your hands frequently to avoid getting a cold.
