BUCKTOWN — More than two years after the abrupt closure of Silver Cloud, a Bucktown bar known for its serene patio and comfort food, the prime Damen Avenue location is still not for sale.

A now-faded sign in the window of the former Silver Cloud, at 1700 N. Damen Ave., says that the popular Bucktown hangout would be closed "a short time" for decorating. That sign went up in August of 2014.

Rivak "Rocky" Albazi, owner of Silver Cloud, also owns Sheffield's, a bar at 3258 N. Sheffield Ave. in Lakeview. For months, he has declined requests for comment on the future of Silver Cloud, which he owned with former business partner Cynthia Oldham.

Though prolific restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff was at one point rumored to be interested in taking over the spot at the northwest corner of Damen and Wabansia avenues, that plan never materialized.

Adam Salamon, vice president of Kudan Group, a brokerage company that specializes in restaurant industry clients, said the restaurant isn't for sale.

"It is our understanding that [Albazi] is working on reconcepting, and I hope they decide on something soon. That corner is an integral part of the Bucktown neighborhood," Salamon said.

Since Silver Cloud shuttered, other storefronts on the block also have closed, including Gant Rugger and Stio Mountain Gear Studio.

Oldham, who owns the Fat Cat bar at 4840 N. Broadway, said that "everyone is asking me all the time about [Silver Cloud]."

When Oldham parted ways with Albazi, her Silver Cloud business partner of 19 years, the mother of two said she was doing so to make more time for family.
