CHICAGO — Ready to learn about sustainable food consumption and snack on tasty treats?

An Afternoon in West Humboldt Park: Food Films, Farm Tour & Snack is bringing healthy eating and sustainable growth to West Humboldt Park on Oct. 15 with an array of food-related activities.

For an admission price of $15, participants will be able to watch award-winning food films, tour sustainable farms and taste delicious snacks in a span of one afternoon.

The event utilizes two indoor facilities in the community area: Silent Funny, a 5,000-square-foot nonprofit art space, and Metropolitan Farms, an indoor aquaponics farm.

Visitors will begin arriving at 2 p.m. at Silent Funny for casual viewing of art installations, which may feature artwork by renowned Chicago artists such as Mr. Rios and Luftwerk.

The tour will move on to a screening of winners from this year's international Real Food Films competition, which featured short films on sustainable food and farming.

The afternoon event will wrap up with a walking tour through the facilities of Metropolitan Farms and a tasting of pan-seared tilapia and farm-grown salad prepared by Ramona Baptiste, a chef a nutrition specialist who runs a local meal catering service called "Chef in the Hood."

Tickets are now available for purchase online for $15.
